This course is so much fun and is going to be well worth your while if you decide to stay in this course. We learn how to communicate in different situations like relationships, problems with someone, and to use words to direct your feelings clearly and how to make a strong point. The assignments that are given are useful and fun to do… in this class learning is hands on and open discussion in class. This class, in my opinion is great for all types of students because if you are shy or you are outgoing, you will do great in this class! Have a ball!
Communications 10 has been one of the best classes that I have ever taken. Sky really knows how to engage with the students and make the class exciting, She is incredibly funny and there is never a dull moment. The class teaches you how to communicate well with others, how to overcome shyness, and basically teaches you about yourself and how you affect the people around you. This class is most definitely worth anyones time and I highly recommend it.
This class, like all of Skye's classes, was so much fun. Skye is an amazing teacher because she loves what she does! She creates an environment where students can learn instead of memorize, and works throughout the semester to make sure that every student's interests are being addressed. This class is great because it is relevant to anyone. You learn about human behavior and communication, and the ways in which they effect self and other. I learned so many interesting things about myself and the relationships that I have with others. I loved this class, and I am sure that all of you will too! Have a great semester!
This course is extremely interesting. There are so many topics that no matter what aspect of communications you are interested in, you will get to experience it and more. If i could have done anything differently in the class it would be first to challenge myself more. I knew that there was a lot to learn about myself through the activities and as I finish up my folder I can see how my views about myself have changed even within the course of the semester. I would also advise to stay on track, do not get behind, this is not a class you can bullshit your way through, you need to stay on top of the assignments. other than that, Have fun and take advantage of the class and the amazing teacher!!
I strongly anyone who would to take a class with actual value and will really help you in the future to take comm 10 with Skye. This class is not like most classes were teachers just loadyou up with info that will not really help you in life unless your focusing on that study. Comm 10 will help you no matter were your going in life or what you plan to do both in a personal and professional manner. This class will help you to make and maintain longlasting relationships and will carry on with you thru out life. Take the class
Comm 10 is a great class to take. Not only is Skye a wonderful teacher, but the material learned is stuff you will take with you for the rest of your life. Skye is such an amazing teacher! She is nice, funny, smart, and understanding. In this class you will learn how to communicate better with others and have much happier and healthier relationships. The workload is not bad at all, she is very understanding of peoples busy schedules and does her best to make sure the students are feeling comfortable with the pace. I absolutely recommend this class to others, you will not be disappointed!
Comm 10 is by far one of the best courses I have taken as a student here at Cabrillo College. In this course, you will learn how to communicate between yourself and a companion or many others better, and how to build a more successful relationship. During class time, you will have a chance to understand everyone's point of view better as they tell you about their lives. The assignments may be a little tricky, as long as you study them, you shouldn't have any trouble doing them. Skye is a wonderful teacher, and she's everyone's best friend. If you have any issues in your life that you would like to overcome, Skye will help you out. Anyone can attend this class, so sign up now!
comm 10 is a really fun class. If you do the activities and the readings, you'll learn a lot. The class atmosphere is open and supportive. Skye really makes the class about us and our interests. As far as the workload, it's not that much if you do a little at a time. I hope you decide to take this class because it is truly AWSOME!!
I did not know what to expect going into Comm 10. I am a pretty quiet person most of the time and did not think communication was a subject I would really get into. But, this class was a lot of fun. You learn about group communication, public speaking, and so much more. Everything you learn in the class can be applied to real life. No matter who you are, you can benefit from this class. The lectures are never boring. Skye is fun and laid back. Her deadlines are not strict at all. It is an easy A if you try. I would definitely recommend this class.
Hello comm 10 student! Here are a few words of wisdom that will guarantee you success in this class. First of all you need to do the work. Second Skye is very fun and energetic so get used to it fast. Lastly there is a group presentation at the end of the course and you need to make sure you are not a loafer, do the work and be prepared ahead of time.
Ok listen up STAY IN THIS CLASS!!! Skye makes this class so much fun that it doesn't even seem like a class in college at all. She makes it fun, gets everyone engaged and really gets your brain going with group discussions, class discussions and many other styles. Shes extremely energetic and always is ready to teach with enthusiasm and excitement. Just do your work and you will do great in this class. Trust me its totally worth your while you won't regret it for one second! Skye rocks shes a great teacher!
i really enojyed this class. i didnt know what to expect at all but after just the first day i knew i would have fun. skye was a wonderful teacher. she really wants to help the students, which makes it so much easier to do the work and come to class when you know the teacher really wants you to pass. she helps you in any way she can, so just make sure you do the outlines and papers and you'll be fine. you will learn alot of stuff that you will keep with you probably for the rest of your lives. so just go in with an open mind, and enjoy!
This class is rad you guys, Skye is an excellent instructor who really understands external and internal communication skills, but to me it's a way of life. All the material that we covered in this course was challenging but fun, so don't worry you guys you'll have a good time. And don't forget to have an open mind.
This course was amazing. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but now that I have taken the course I am very grateful. Comm 10 is a great class if you are not sure which communication concentration you are into. This course teaches all of the communication types including group work and public speaking (and more), so you can get a little taste of each kind of Comm class there is to offer! One thing to remember while taking the course is to have an open mind to the readings. I think one of the main reasons this course was amazing is because Skye is such an inspiring and great teacher to take a course from. She knows what she is teaching and is very passionate in what she talks about. She makes the class worth taking because she treats her students with respect! In all, I would definitely recommend this class because it can help you with anything in your everyday life.
Hey Newbie,
If you've never had Skye before you are in for a real treat. This Comm 10 Class looks into your personal interactions of our daily lives and studies the basic concept of communicating with ALL people on an effective level. It opens your eyes to our cultural and social differences as humans. She's a little scattered but if you keep on top of the HW she assigns and do them right away, the class will flow perfectly. This class stays active and keeps you interested. I can almost promise you now that you'll leave class laughing everyday....

This class is fantastic. It is not called interpersonal communication for no reason! I have learned so much about myself and how to deal with others, through the readings and discussions in class. If you are like me and LOVE to talk, then you will love this class. It is in a discussion format, and most of the time they are important meaningful discussions. Skye also is great. She is a great teacher and you are never confused with her. She makes sure everyone in her class understands what is going on. The readings and discussions are so insightful, and I guarantee you will enjoy this class as I did. TRUST ME!
This course was by far the best and funnest class i've had at cabrillo. We discuss a lot about inter and intra personal relationships and how to work out problems in relationships. The assignments were to write in a reading log and the work load was fair. Skye has a great teaching style and is hilarious (in a good way)also she grades fairly. This is the bestest class you could ever take, just enjoy it.
Skye is that best teacher EVER!! She cares about her students and is a very fare grader. she is energetic and outgoing, hilarious and makes the classes worth going to everyday. Just do you work and have fun, take every cx class with Skye and you will love life!!!!
Comm. 10 was another really great communication class! Skye made the class very fun and interesting as always! If you come to class, read and outline the readings, and participate you’ll get a lot out of the class and enjoy doing it. I learned a lot about myself in this class and I will take everything I’ve learned and try to apply it to my life. I wish this class was required for all students because everyone will take something away from this class,. Thanks again Skye for a wonderful semester!!!

Mikey-I love this class. First off Skye is the best Proff eva! Secondly when you take a course with SKye(i have taken several) she always keeps it new and fresh!! No matter what class it is it is always fun, up to date, topical, and most of all interesting as hell!! She always manages to get every one of her students involved and best of all, unafraid to speak your mind without any notion of being ridiculed or laughed at. I truly recommend taking this course, you will learn copious amounts of knowledge on how to communicate effectively and learn how to control your emotions and deal with other peoples bull$#^& without getting Pissed off!! Have a great time and remember to duck when Skye throws candy or chalk, I almost lost and Eye!!! PS Don't freak out at her honesty, thats just the way Skye rolls....
TEST
This is a fun class, it was nice break in a hectic class load I took this semester. Skye is a wonderful teacher with an awesome sense of humor... Make sure you do all the assignments in an orderly fashion(don't wait until last minute to do all the outlines) and make sure you have her show you some Glen Beck clips....
COMM 10! Great class. I have taken every other comm class and this was my first with Skye. The class consisted of readings, ted.com video clips, take home essay stlye midterm and NO FINAL. Along with side assignments and class projects. During the course of the semester you are responsible for completing 10 outlines and 5 ted.com's. This means you pick your favorite readings and outline 10 and pick your favorite ted.coms and write an outline/response. She provides detailed guidlines as to how she likes 'em, which is very helpful. All work including outlines and stuff go into an ORGANIZED portfolio you create, which is due at the end of the semester containing EVERTHING! Best advice is to not wait until the end to do your outlines and ted.com assignments. She is very helpful and as long as you show up, be involved in class, and do assignments you will pass with an A. She very open to any questions and makes the class a safe and open learning expierence (no limits). She loves discussion and I found it to be the best tool in learning the material, soooo ASK QUESTIONS! Also she is there to help and willing to do outside of class study sessions, so take advantage!
WISH YOU THE BEST,
FORMER STUDENT - JESSICA MURPHY
Comm 10 has been a wonderful course for me to take this semester. Not only has this course allowed me to identify barriers that I have within myself to better communicate with other, it has also been a wonderful experience being in Skyle Gentile's class. You'll find that she is a very understanding instructor. Just don't let the outlines catch up to you! And remember always have fun! Jessica Gonzalez
This course is a very good course to take if you want to learn about yourself. Along with learning how to communicate in all different types of situations. Skye is an excellent teacher that provides you with a lot of handout to help you understand her lectures better. she makes the class fun and I encourage you all to do well in it. Try not to put off your outlines and reviews until the last mintue. Have Fun!
This is a great class... It is a lot of fun and you will do well as long as you show up and stay on top of the reading outlines. The class is pretty easy but I have learned more in this class than most of my other classes. Skye is a great teacher and always keeps things interesting, pleasantly informal, and is very supportive. You will benefit the most from the class if you try to apply the concepts you learn to your own life and if you PARTICIPATE in class DISCUSSIONS. I would recommend this class to anybody but particularly students who have trouble in straight lecture classes or students who really want to improve their lives and their communication skills. Don't make this class harder than it is stay on top of the work and enjoy it, Skye is more concerned with her students improving their lives than she is with testing, or the grade you get in the class (which will be an A or B if you do most of the work).
I have learned so many real life things that I can apply everyday. You will learn about the type of person you are and how you interact. you will also learn how to improve your self, if you wish. I would recommend the ted.com videos... they are gold! Our class was a little too quiet... so don't be afraid to SPEAK UP. :)
Hello to all those who made it to any of skye's courses...I have taken sky for three COMM classes, thus i have a very important advice that will really help you do good in class. I highly recommend you all to not procrastinate on her easy assignments. PLEASE do your outlines asap so you won't lag behind. Her articles are very interesting so doing the outlines is not going to be hard. Skye is very flexible and understanding, but don't push her assignments 'til later. (Leave your personal and work problems aside.) The class it self is interesting, but if you like a particular structure to help you be on track you will find it hard to follow along.....

Skye's class is a trip. Make sure you do all your outlines and TED.COM things as they roll in. It SEEMS like not a lot of work however it piles up and you will spend many nights weeping over the fact your tirelessly doing outlines and reviews at the end of the semester.
Just make sure you to loosen up, take everything in and have fun.
My experiance in this course was a good one. Skye is a nice, loving, and fashionable teacher. You know when skye is coming because you can hear her heals from aound the hall. some advice that i give you is dont procratinate. try and finish everything as soon as possible another thing is have fun and come to class because you wont wana miss this..so have fun be safe and be nice=]]

I really enjoyed taking this class with skye. This is the first communication class that i have taken and i found it really interesting. Make sure that you stay on top of your work though. the portfolio is fun to do and the readings are interesting but if you wait till the last minute it can pile up. We learn better ways to communicate in relationships, how to deal with problems and my favorite was learning about the fighting fairly.

Skye's comm 10 class was so awesome! I learned alot about my own self while getting to know many new people and new things about them. Comm 10 was a good class to have taken for my first communication class and i plan to now get my communication award after completeing my ten units. Skye was an amazing teacher and paid alot of attention to her students. She's funny and very outspoken =]
This is the 6th comm class i've taken and it's been one of the most fun! Sky is full of energy and is super encouraging! You'll learn things about yourself that you didn't even know. We go over so many useful things about how to deal with conflict in so many situations: friends, co-workers, significant others, etc. This class is full of fun and learning, enjoy class and be present! Last, make sure you talk up, Sky loves it!
Take this class it will not only teach you about yourself but it will show you how to be a better person, you learn about love and fear and relationships and how you and others view yourself. It just shows you how to live happy. Just show up and soak up the information.
Thanks skye
Dear new Comm. 10 student,
The purpose of this class is to learn how to better communicate with co-workers, loved ones, and the occasional random whack-job. While the source material may seem boring at times, Skye does a great job at making things interesting and fun for all. Just be sure to finish your work on time, especially the outlines. Seriously, don't let the "nothing's due till the end of the semester" rule fool you like I did. Spread these things out and get them done and out of your way. It's only hard if you allow it to be.
Best of luck to you,
Kyle
